Silvio Nardi is the owner of one of the first leader factories of agricultural implements. He buys Casale del Bosco estate in the North-West side of Montalcino.

First vintage of Brunello di Montalcino Tenute Silvio Nardi.
The Brunello di Montalcino wine Consortium was still far from being created. Tenute Silvio Nardi is one of the first companies to embottle its own wine and today extraordinary bottles of the Fifties and Sixties are well kept in the historical cellar.

Silvio Nardi buys Manachiara estate in the East side of Montalcino, along the slopes facing Castelnuovo dell’Abate.
The precious Cru of Brunello takes its name from this vineyard inside the estate.

Silvio Nardi is one of the founders of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino.

Emilia, Silvio Nardi’s youngest daughter, makes her entrance into the business and, in agreement with her brothers, she supports the introduction of radical changes in the wine-production process and the company management.

Zoning, clonal selection and replantation projects are carried on. Scientifical research goes side by side with the experience of tradition. The results of these huge and innovative scientific activities are the estates of today.

From a top-stars vintage, Manachiara gives birth to its first Brunello, which is still the company flagship wine.

The oenologist Yves Glories from Bordeaux starts his activity of consultancy and introduces the method of phenolic ripeness.

First year of production of Brunello Poggio Doria, a special and elegant Cru, created from the vineyard of the same name in Casale del Bosco in the North-West side of Montalcino.

Accomplishment of the best clones’ selection of the property and assessment of individual morphological characters of single identified clones.

On June 7th, four clones of Sangiovese are recorded in the national varietal register under Tenute Silvio Nardi’s property.

Tenute Silvio Nardi boast of 80 hectares of vineyards divided into two estates, eight lots, thirty-six vineyards. Forty-nine hectares are registered for the production of Brunello di Montalcino.

The future

Thanks to the selection of the clones in the old vineyards, the past will be projected in the future of Tenute Silvio Nardi.
